myPOS merchants can now accept online payments made with Bancontact cards, shares founder Christo Georgiev

Our partnership with the Belgian electronic payments’ leader Bancontact (now Bancontact Payconiq Company) started in 2017 when we rolled out the acceptance of Bancontact cards on myPOS terminals. To no one’s surprise, the collaboration between the two companies has reached new altitudes. This has been announced by Mr. Christo Georgiev, fintech entrepreneur and myPOS founder.

”myPOS is a crucial partner of Bancontact Payconiq Company in making it possible for Belgians to pay with their beloved payment method across the border. Together we offer a solid payment solution, recognisable for Belgians throughout Europe.”

In addition to offering Bancontact payments acceptance in-person, myPOS now enables receiving online payments made with Bancontact cards via its services such as PayButton, PayLink and Checkout. Because of that, traders with physical and online presence can serve more Belgian clients and enjoy an increase in revenue due to offering convenience and flexibility in accepting payments for their products and services.

Christo Georgiev confirms that the partnership has been “fruitful”

“This partnership has been fruitful” – it has been calculated that the average monthly number of Bancontact payments that myPOS processes is nearly 38 000. That’s across 20 European countries, the most popular being Austria, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, France and Greece. On average, the amount of a transaction is 69 Euros. The higher number shows that both merchants and consumers trust the partnership.

In March 2018 Bancontact Company merged with Payconiq Belgium only to become the top choice service for debit electronic payments among Belgians. Such payments cover everything from online shopping to buying beverages from vending machines. The new company was adequately named Bancontact Payconiq Company. Before the merge Payconiq Belgium was an established provider of a mobile payment system.

“We are very excited about our extended collaboration with myPOS, a crucial partner of Bancontact Payconiq Company in making it possible for Belgians to pay with their beloved payment method across the border. The fact that Belgians can pay with the Bancontact payment method at a foreign webshop increases the reliability and client’s trust. Together we offer a solid payment solution, recognisable for Belgians throughout Europe.”

– Nathalie Vandepeute, CEO of Bancontact Payconiq Company, December 2018

Mr. Georgiev said, “I am glad that the relationship between myPOS and Bancontact Payconiq Company is evolving. The addition of Bancontact as payment method to myPOS Online brings benefits both ways – myPOS offers better and more flexible services, while the Bancontact payment method enjoys popularity across Europe. In the end it is the consumers that win”.
